Options for the No2Torture Yahoo Group
Dear Friends,
Over the past week on the No2Torture Yahoo group, we have been having conversations about various ways to communicate with each other. It is clear that people turn to this group for different reasons; therefore, it makes sense to have different options to meet these needs.
I am grateful that one member of our network, Barbara Quintilano has offered to attempt a weekly (or perhaps bi-weekly) digest of postings. This would include a summary of, and links to, breaking news, pertinent background and action items. As moderator, I will also continue to flag urgent action items when they arise. These items will go to every member of our Yahoo! group. I will continue to use this option very rarely.
Each member of the group will have choices about how s/he wishes to participate. All you need to do is choose the option that's appropriate for you. This will be experimental for the next few weeks. We will be counting on feedback.
The screen capture here shows the top of the page that you see when you log on to the
No2Torture Yahoo group;
click on "Edit Membership."

Then select the appropriate option under Step 2: and save your changes:

The current format will also continue to run in parallel for those who wish to get all the postings. It is my fervent hope that people will continue to post anything and everything that they think is relevant to our issues of concern. What may seem redundant or tangential to one member, is the just the catalyst another might need. Also, we especially need to hear about the action items you are taking in your communities. These postings can inspire others to adapt efforts letters to the editor, workshops, worship materials, organizing and symbolic actions to their neighborhoods. AND, don't stop questioning reinforcing, challenging, encouraging each other. The whole conversation is necessary and welcome!!
Thanks to everyone for continuing to shape our No2Torture efforts.
pax,
Carol Wickersham
