Speaking Out against Torture
We can start to end our own complicity in torture by speaking out against it
and educating others; here are some ideas and resources to help you:
- Talk to friends and relatives, as appropriate.
- Request, or organize, a church adult-education class using
our Out of Horror, Hope: curriculum.
- Organize a church, or other community, forum.

Call and write government officials and the media.
- Publish an article in the popular or academic press; you might find our
relevant quotations and other resources helpful.
- Sign and/or circulate
petitions and letter-writing campaigns.
- Or look for inspiration in other action guides, such as:
- Amnesty International's
- Center for Victims of Torture's
CVT Advocacy
- Unitarian Universalist Service Committee's
STOP campaign
- Post and distribute posters, flyers or other materials, such as:
