Chicago-Area Gathering - LodgingMost out-of-town participants will be staying in the area on the nights of Thursday, June 1 and Friday, June 2 (since the Gathering runs from 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 2 through 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 3). Free accommodations: There are two possibilities for free accommodations on Thursday and Friday nights:
Your registration form allows you to note your preferences. Holiday Inn: The Holiday Inn (Countryside-LaGrange), 2.6 miles south of the church, is holding a block of 25 rooms until May 11. Rooms have either one king-size bed or two double beds; assuming that people will be having breakfast at the church, the rate is $86/night, plus tax. There is a maximum of five people per room.
The Holiday Inn can provide shuttle service to and from Midway Int'l Airport, provided the shuttle is reserved at least 24 hours in advance. We expect to be able to provide limited transportation from the hotel to the church, and back. The church and hotel are shown on this map. To reach the church from the hotel, go less than one block east on Joliet Rd., and turn left on S. LaGrange Rd. Drive north for 1.8 miles until you reach 47th St. and turn left. Go two blocks and turn right onto S. Ashland Ave. It is 3.5 blocks to the church. Other inns: Here's an (incomplete) list of other not-too-expensive places in the area, ordered by distance from the church. The list comes from Internet searches (e.g., Orbitz.com), so the places may, or may not, be ones that you'd want to stay – look up some reviews and ratings before booking. Also, unless you have a car, getting to/from the airport and church could be a problem. Prices can vary for lots of reasons, so take my number with a grain of salt. If you call, you may be quoted something other than the Internet price that I found. For that matter, if you're a good negotiator and they have a lot of empty rooms, you may be able to get a better price. Sites like DiscountHotels.com often quote better prices, but may have restrictions (like non-refundable reservations).
